Assisted by Cochran and Colonel jeff Nixon (Robert Walker), General Leslie Groves (Brian Donlevy) is placed in charge of the Manhattan Project, a billion-dollar undertaking that will culminate in the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the end of WWII.
