I can't believe I got something this good for $7. I feel like I owe the band an apology for not paying more for this album. Heaven knows I've paid more and gotten much, much less. For the reviewers that insist this is not prog, I'll conceded that it's less progressive than Blomljud. And Moon Safari at their "proggiest" are not edgy, in-your-face prog. I saw one review that said Lover's End was more power pop than prog. Maybe that's not a bad description. There are certainly a lot of progressive elements in the music, but overall, it's very melodic and accessible.The fact is, just about every song sticks in my head. I can't remember the last time that happened. The hooks, the harmonies, the melody lines of each instrument combine to make each song beautiful in its own right. Moon Safari is vocally one of the more interesting bands you'll ever hear. The singing is head and shoulders above most of what's out there. The arrangements are fantastic and flawlessly executed. Lyrically, a few reviewers have called the songs cheesy, and in places maybe they are. But even in those cases, they aren't anything so noticeable that you wouldn't enjoy the song. The production quality is high, everything crystal clear and well-balanced.If Lover's End is not "true" prog, oh well. It's still music that totally grabs me. It hasn't been out of my playlist since I got it. I'm not one for giving a CD a 5 star review. Most of the CDs I really like I would consider 4 star. This is one of those rare times when I have to say 5 starts is merited.
