Ever since he was a kid growing up in Youngstown, Ohio, Eric Hanna knew he was born to play basketball. Despite setbacks and criticism from all angles, he never stopped practicing, always worked to improve his game, and learned about true focus and commitment along the way. In Fight to the End, Eric shares his journey from an awkward nine-year-old basketball hopeful; to a scrawny but promising high school athlete; to a 6'7", award-winning walk-on player for the Ohio State University. Eric's coming-of-age story is one of perseverance, dedication, and redefining glory through the lens of college basketball.
Reading this book really makes you appreciate what student athletes endure through their collegiate playing career. The author seemed to endure more than any young man fighting to play the sport he loves should. This isn't a book about just one victory or defeat, it's full of several of both and you won't want to stop reading because there really isn't a lull in suspense of what is going to happen next. There were times where I was sad, and even mad at the situations, but there were many more times where I laughed out loud and enjoyed learning some Ohio State history. I was able to get through this book in just two evenings after work and have been inspired this week.
