I bought this pair to replace a couple of identical pajama pants I purchased in person from the local Lands End outlet around 15 years ago. I used Amazon because Lands End's shipping cost is high enough that even with a 40% discount from the ones directly from the store, I'd have paid more than I did by buying them through Amazon. I have so enjoyed this style of pajama pants, but the top part of the fabric on the casing around the elastic had completely worn out after I washed them more than 750 times. They were still useable because every stitch on both pairs of pants held up and both pairs still look and feel great and had no other signs of wear. But the uncovered elastic irritates the skin on my waist, so I donated these to a thrift store and purchased one replacement through Amazon. Obviously, the workmanship of the item purchased through Amazon doesn't compare well with that of the same garment purchased directly from Lands End. Maybe it is a coincidence. Or maybe Amazon is accepting defective merchandise from Lands End and selling it for new. Since Amazon's return policy is very good, I am returning the pants and giving Amazon another try. Maybe I will have better luck this time!
